Beginning Wednesday, September 19, library cardholders at the Columbia County Libraries will be able to check out acoustic guitars
The guitars will check out for two weeks and can be renewed up to two times.
Each guitar will come in a case that includes a strap, tuner, picks and a quick-start guide.
There will be two guitars at the Euchee Creek and Harlem branches, and six guitars at the main Columbia County Library in Evans.
“We always say books are just the beginning,” said Columbia County Library Director Mary Lin Maner. “Books are an important part of what we offer, but we also offer valuable business resources, academic services for all levels, and other fun check outs like parks passes and museum passes.”
“The guitars are a natural progression of those offerings. We have multiple guitar clubs and classes that meet in the library each month, and this will allow students to check out an instrument to practice at home.”
The Columbia County Library has a teen guitar class that meets the second Tuesday of each month, and a teen guitar club that meets the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Both teen programs meet at 4:00 PM. Adult guitar classes meet the first and third Thursdays, with a beginners’ lesson at 4:00 PM and a more advanced club at 5:30 PM. Columbia County Library cardholders can also access guitar and other musical instrument instruction 24/7 through ArtistWorks, an online resource available through gchrl.org.
