Southbound at the SRP park opens next week
Batter up! Metro’s Best Barbeque is opening a new location in North Augusta flanked between America’s favorite pastime and the Savannah River. The project has taken longer than licking Alabama White Sauce off your fingers, but that’s construction, baby.
This location is attached to SRP Park and is a double decker with the focus on the main event: the meat. The overall look is as much like the original Southbound as they could muster inside a steel and glass building.
The main floor dining area surrounds an enormous kitchen with massive Rec Tec Grills. Upstairs is a horseshoe shaped bar bordered by high top seating. Outside seating includes a large patio facing the river.
With floor to ceiling windows, one may think watching the Green Jackets, shoveling shrimp and grits down one’s gullet, in the comfort of an air conditioned space is a win-win situation.
While the two floors offer amazing views of the river, the rising hotels and apartments, the side facing the field is solid wall, except for the small private party room.

This location, on Washington Road, takes the total to luck number 13 restaurants open. That is a lot of tacos.
