Dave & Busters, founded in 1982, is heading to Augusta. The company is on a growth jag, using new store openings to shore up stagnant same store sales growth. The core of the Dave & Busters concept is to offer a full menu, bar, and an extensive assortment of entertainment attractions centered around playing games and watching live sports and other televised events.
The customer mix skews moderately to males, primarily between the ages of 21 and 39, while still doing well with families with children and teenagers.
The location is Augusta’s Village at Riverwatch shopping center, near the center’s future Topgolf venue. Dave & Busters stores average 41,000 square feet, ranging in size between 16,000 and 66,000 square feet.
The company is growing, opening new stores at an annual rate of at least 10% of their existing stores. During the first thirteen weeks of fiscal 2019, Dave & Busters opened seven new stores, compared to six new store openings in the comparable 2018 period.
As of May 5, 2019, there were 127 stores in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.
The company plans on opening fifteen to sixteen new stores in fiscal 2019.
