Insiders say concerned parents from Episcopal Day School are wondering what is going on at the school and the Church of the Good Shepherd.

In just the past 30 days, longtime Rector Robert Fain has announced his retirement and move back to his home state of North Carolina. The parents learned the news in an email sent out on October 7th.
After being Rector for thirty five years at the Church, a departure from the church, the ministry, and the state within a matter of weeks seemed rushed to many.

Two weeks later, Ned Murray, the Headmaster of EDS for the past seventeen years, sent what many consider a cryptic email attempting to explain to parents his recent absence from campus.
Why would a Headmaster of 17 years, who ostensibly is working from home for a couple of weeks, have to alert the parents and state in his letter he was doing so “with the full support of the Board”?
One would think with Covid turning America into work from home it would not be something that would require such a detailed explanation, which ultimately explained nothing.
EDS is known for its engaged students, parents and faculty. These two incidents, taken together, have many wondering ‘what is going on at EDS?’
