In addition to the two hottest bands in bluegrass right now, we’re also excited to showcase the rest of our jampacked festival! Billy Strings, The Larry Keel Experience, The Lil Smokies, Lindsay Lou, The Jon Stickley Trio, Love Canon, Grass Is Dead, Brad Parsons Band, Greg Burns & Friends, Rumpke Mountain Boys, Burle Galloway, Delta Cane, Part & Parcel, The 10th Mountain Division and Doug and the Henry’s.
The Aiken Bluegrass Festival was founded by Steve and Jeannie Groat in 2004 as a way of supporting Great Oak, a local therapeutic horseback riding program. The festival has grown dramatically over the past fourteen years and is now held at the Western Carolina State Fairgrounds in Aiken, South Carolina.
New for 2018, ABF is working with Albrecht SPCA to help raise money and awareness. The Albrecht SPCA has been placing thousands of needy animals into loving forever homes for over 80 years. (Volunteers will be on site Saturday with puppies available for adoption!)
Also new this year is a very exciting strategic partnership with Friends With Benefits, an Augusta concert promotion company. “As the festival has grown, so have our goals,” said festival co-director Christian Schaumann. “To reach these goals, we have partnered with our friends and fellow music lovers Friends With Benefits. Not only are they doing great things for the music scene in the CSRA, but more importantly we share the same ethos of giving back to the community through music.”
GREENSKY BLUEGRASS is in the midst of multiple sold out shows across the country, including Red Rocks Amphitheater. While the band has ascended to the top of the bluegrass mountain, they stay true to their roots with this year marking their fourth appearance at the Aiken Bluegrass Festival. Making their debut ABF turn is poly-ethnic Cajun slamgrass proprietors, LEFTOVER SALMON . Hot on the heels of the release of his debut album, Tinfoil and Turmoil, guitar phenom BILLY STRINGS, will return for two sets. Playing two sets will be THE LIL SMOKIES, LINDSAY LOU and the BRAD PARSONS BAND. The much beloved “Mayor of Aiken Bluegrass” LARRY KEEL will mark his 14th ABF appearance along with the LARRY KEEL EXPERIENCE. Joining them will be JON STICKLEY TRIO, LOVE CANON, GREG BURNS & FRIENDS, RUMPKE MOUNTAIN BOYS, GRASS IS DEAD, BURLE GALLOWAY, DELTA CANE, PART & PARCEL, 10TH MOUNTAIN DIVISION, and DOUG & THE HENRYS.
What sets the ABF apart from ANY OTHER BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL IN THE COUNTRY is the free flowing jams organized by the promoters and artists over the months preceding the festival and are highly anticipated by our thousands of bluegrass fans! This year we are sure to delight with a few tricks up our tattered sleeves, but we can announce two SUPER Performances are being cooked up-SO LOOK OUT!!!
