Vocalist Anna Estrada mixes different styles together, intertwining Brazilian, Latin and jazz standards. To my ear, it's a perfect blend of Latin and American jazz.

Estrada is also a well-known performer and actor in the Bay Area. She has worked for the Magic Theater and Brava, and made two appearances on the hit TV show "America's Most Wanted."

In 2002, she had an impulse to keep singing and pursue music. Six years later, she has released her "Sonando Vuelos" CD.

The song called "Takes my Breath Away" has a fast Latin rhythm with driving tunes' driving percussion. Estrada's vocals fit this music perfectly. The percussions and rhythm have organic qualities that lend merit to this music. In addition, there is a very good nylon string acoustic solo along with stellar piano work that rounds out this track.

"Adoro" is my personal favorite. The percussion alone is worth listening to. Estrada's' amazing vocals create a new form for Latin jazz. You can imagine being in Rio de Janeiro listening to this track.

"Dreaming Now" has a mid-tempo beat with an intro of saxophone. The interesting thing with Latin music is that the percussion fills all the gaps in the song. This tune is a good example of this, along with fabulous vocals and musicianship from the band.
Overall, Anne Estrada's "Sonando Vuelos" is highly recommended listening to fans of jazz and Latin music.
