Shawn Ledford, owner of the three area Mellow Mushrooms, has purchased 1102 Broad Street. The building is caddy-corner at the opposite end of the block from his flagship Augusta Mellow Mushroom.
He now joins a growing list of downtown restaurateurs who have become Broad Street property owners.
Pizza Joint owner Micheal Schepis recently purchased the former Red Lion Pub on Walton Way. He also owns the other Pizza Joint locations in Evans and Aiken.
Bee’s Knees and Whiskey Bar Kitchen owners jumped at the chance to purchase the properties they had been renting from Brian Haltermann, closing on the buildings in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
The owner of Nacho Mamas purchased the neighboring Playground Bar in 2018.
Sole’ came into the market as a property owner and have continued to buy, recently completing the row of shops across from Luigi’s.
Ledford said he purchased 1102 as an investment and has no idea what the plans for the large building are at the moment.
