What is the FATS FLOW MASTER? Well first, what is FATS? FATS is a fast, flowy hard packed clay based mountain bike trail. It’s not like you’re climbing for a super long time, but there are nice elevation changes. Constantly ebbing and flowing like a roller coaster. Mostly machine built as opposed to hand built so the trail itself is more conducive as to speed. The turns are more open radius and the tread itself is more level, flatter, more consistent.
Oh, and the CSRA (Augusta area) is an IMBA Ride Center, and our own FATS is consistenly in or near the top ten mountain bike trails in the world. The trail is so delicious that the 2010 IMBA World Mountain Bike Summit was held here. To put that in perspective, the Summit is held annually all over the world.
Secondly, what is the FLOW MASTER?
The FLOW MASTER is a timed race of all three of the FATS loops (37 miles total, race distance is 20 miles), the first race of it’s kind held at the almost ten year old trail system. Conceived by Drew Jordan with assistance from Paul Farrow and SORBA-CSRA volunteers to raise funds for trail repairs-tread work and perhaps adding a ‘B’ line.
The number of riders is capped at 125 participants.
Registration is $50 and can be completed online @ andyjordans.com. You’ll find all the fine print and details there. The race is Saturday, October 21st at 9 AM. The registration deadline is October 8th unless already sold out.
The winer will receive the prestige of being the FLOW MASTER, the MASTER of FLOW!
ALL RIDERS receive a t-shirt and the knowledge that their sweat and maybe tears went to help support the trail that put Augusta Georgia on the mountain bike map.
