Walk into almost any popular store or restaurant, and you’re likely to see a Metro’s Best sticker. The last ones we handed out looked something like this.
Problem is, the last time we handed them out was, oh, about five years ago. That’s way too long, according to restaurant, bar and store owners, as well as service providers and you, our loyal readers.
Our readers, of course, are the most important part of the Metro’s Best equation. The Metro Spirit is a newspaper, and a newspaper’s role is to police the government and other local authorities, not tell local hamburger places which one we think has the best milkshake.
Nope, that’s the readers’ job, and we’re more than happy to let you do it.
So starting Thursday, July 23, you can CLICK HERE and take our survey. During the nominations phase, which will last until August 13, you can vote for anyone you see fit in each of our more than 100 categories.
From best restaurant to most inspiring community leader, we want to hear what you think.
After those four weeks of nominations, we’ll take a break for a week, which will give us a chance to see who garnered the most votes in each category. Then, starting on August 27 and running through September 24, you can give your vote to one of the top 5 in each category.
After another one-week break in which we will tally the votes, we’ll announce the winners on October 1.
Rules and Guidelines
We will not accept paper ballots during the 2015 Metro’s Best contest. Sorry, folks: the computers have finally won. Skynet is sending the terminators as we speak.
During the nominating phase of Metro’s Best 2015, please take care when typing your choices. When compiling the nominees, we will do our best to make sure that we put all the responses together correctly, but it sure would make it a lot easier if each entry was spelled correctly. Google is there for a reason, people!
We’ve set the questionnaire up so that it will only accept one response per computer. That’s just to keep business owners and employees honest.
Unlike years past, we’re not requiring you to answer a certain number of questions before being able to turn in your list. Listen: we’d like for you to read all the questions carefully and put some thought into answering each one, but we’re also realists. We know you can’t go that long without checking Facebook (or whatever it is the kids are doing these days). All we ask is that you not go in, answer the one or two questions that interest you, and click submit. Is that too much to ask?
Lastly, have fun. We had a great time coming up with these categories and we’re happy that we can again call Metro’s Best voting season our favorite time of the year. Enjoy!
