14. Best Golf Course

Forest Hills Golf Club
When it comes to golf courses in Augusta, it’s difficult to find one with a longer or more prestigious history than Forest Hills. Well, there is one more, but most of us will never get a chance to play it. Forest Hills, on the other hand, is a public 18-hole golf course in a lovely location near the Hill area. It came to being in 1926 and was originally designed by course architect Donald Ross. Arnold Palmer’s company renovated it in 2004, but didn’t take away any of the rolling fairways and abundance of trees that give the course its charm. Home to Augusta University’s incredibly successful Jaguar golf teams, Forest Hills has hosted collegiate tournaments in which greats like Phil Mickelson and Davis Love III have played. You don’t have to be that good, or that rich, for that matter, to play Forest Hills; just book your tee time online and you could play this historic course for just a buck a hole.

15. Best Spin Gallery

The Family Y
There are a few things you know when you walk into one of the dozen or so branches of the Family Y in the CSRA: The facilities will be clean and well-kept, the people will be friendly and helpful, and the classes will well-organized and taught by top-notch instructors. And nowhere is this attention to detail more apparent than in their spinning classes. Now, that doesn’t mean the class ain’t gonna hurt; in fact, you can count on the fact that your clothes will be drenched and your legs wobbly when you leave. But the careful, attentive instructors, who’ll never make you do more than you can, keep people coming back for this torture time and time again.

28. Best Hospital

31. Best Place to Have a Baby

University Hospital

universityEven before you step foot inside University Hospital, you get the feeling that it’s different from other medical institutions in town. Right off the bat you may notice how easy it is to find your way around. In sharp contrast to other facilities in the area, at University you basically drive right up and walk in the front door: no mazes to navigate before you even step foot inside. But once you’re inside, you’ll notice that the employees are friendly and the layout is easy and helpfully marked, which may sound silly but is nothing but soothing for those already stressed out by a trip to the hospital. That calm in the midst of the storm continues at the W.G. Watson MD Women’s Center on the third floor. Flooded with light, the maternity area and nursery are the first things you see when you get off the elevator. Mothers are treated like queens here, and babies are welcomed into the world with a Birthday Bell that sounds throughout the hospital.
