Southbound at SRP Ballpark opened March 1st. The second location of the award winning BBQ restaurant known for live music and soul rolls is poised for big things. The city of North Augusta is currently building an open air amphitheater next door to the two story bbq and brew emporium.
Frog and Hen opened March 1st on Flowing Wells Road in Martinez. Owner Sean Wight, who also owns Frog Hollow, Craft & Vine and Farmhaus, created a restaurant featuring organic chicken and fresh vegetables, upscale comfort food created in the same farm to table ethos all Frog Hollow Hospitality Group restaurants adhere to. The restaurant also features a market stocked with prepackaged menu favorites, wine and craft beer, as well as local organic items-jams, jellies, honey and the like. There is also a drive-in window for drive thru pick ups.
2nd City Distillery opened April 8th on the river in downtown Augusta. The small batch distillery features a large bar, and offers tours of the distillery. Liquor may be purchased by the glass or bottle.
Wild Wing Grovetown opened July 10th on Lewiston Road by I-20. The Scholer family has owned and operated the Wild Wing on Washington Road for over fifteen years, featuring live music nightly, great wings and cold beer.
The Grovetown location has roll up doors surrounding a large bar, a centrally located stage and lots of windows and open views.
The kitchen is staffed with chefs with a serious wing thing. Everything is prepared from scratch, from the 30 wing sauces to the chicken fingers-fresh tenderloins, hand dipped in homemade batter and fried to order. The hand cut onion rings are dipped in a gently spicy beer batter and fried to perfection. Even the salad dressings and dips are freshly prepared in the kitchen.
Noble Jones opened next to 2nd City on the Savannah River July 16 in the former Cotton Patch.
Abel Brown reopened March 5th after an extensive renovation, doubling the kitchen size and updating the dining room.
Sno Cap Drive-In in North Augusta was acquired by the Fatmans family in March.
