The Washington Road Underpass Project is moving along nicely, with the 120-foot-long concrete tunnel under Washington Road slowly taking shape.
The tunnel will connect Augusta National and their new Global Broadcast Village, where they will document and share every swing and scratch.
Hydraulic jacks are shoving the pre-constructed concrete box measuring 31 feet wide and 21 feet high underneath Washington Road.
The two-lane road going through the tunnel is roughly 10 feet under the surface of Washington Road.
The 25,000 cars a day that pass over the construction have been enjoying undulating roadway lately as the earth apparently settles as the work continues.
The tunnel construction technique was especially important for being able to keep the road open while the tunnel is dug.
There are no plans to close Washington Road. Insiders say the humps and bumps are just lumps that will soon be bikini wax smooth.
