Note From Commissioner Mary Fair Davis

Winter Storm Pax left in its wake debris and destruction. The City of Augusta responded the best it could but there are still thousands without power in District 3 and beyond.

Georgia Power has committed significant resources to the area and is working around the clock to restore power to our community. With over 100 power line poles down, their task is enormous. While you may not see trucks or workers on your street, rest assured knowing that they are working at the power source to bring lights and heat back to Augusta residents.

Once the power is restored, the City of Augusta Engineering Department will continue debris clean up. In the meantime, please do your part to help clear the road and main thoroughfares in your neighborhood.

It is safe to assume that it will be another 24-48 hours for all of Augusta to have power. If you are in need of shelter, please dial 3-1-1. If you need emergency assistance, dial 9-1-1.

This winter storm will go down in the record books as one of the worst in the country. I applaud our Mayor, Department Heads, and City workers for their excellent preparation and storm response.

Thank you in advance for your patience and sacrifice as we work together to recover after this disaster.
