Near the end of the 2009-2010 school year, Glenn Hills High School Principal Wayne Frazier made headlines after he was charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane only days before Glenn Hills’ graduation.
While the charges were later reduced to reckless driving, the arrest tarnished his image. A few days after his arrest, Glenn Hills High School was also criticized for its yearbook which depicted some of the senior class members as criminals in a section called “The Jail Report.”
Only weeks later, the high school also discovered its former bookkeeper had taken approximately $14,400 in student activity funds.
Frazier, who also happens to be the husband of state Rep. Gloria Frazier, never fully recovered from those controversies.
In December of 2016, Frazier was sworn in as a member of the Richmond County School Board, which he still serves on.
According to a report in the Augusta Chronicle, Frazier was once again arrested on a DUI charge November 2nd after being involved in a single-vehicle accident on Deans Bridge Road.
When a reporter for the daily spoke with him on the phone, he denied any knowledge of the arrest. “It’s the first time I’m hearing about it,” Frazier said. “I can’t comment on something I don’t know about. I don’t know what’s going on,” according to Jozsef Papp’s article posted January 16, 2020.
There is no place in our education system for a man as reckless and bereft of character as Dr. Wayne Frazier. Hopefully he will do the right thing and resign from the BOE and get help for his drinking before it is too late and he kills or maims one of the students he says he is so passionate about helping.
