The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office will continue to patrol and respond to all calls. With this said, our office has been made aware of rumors floating around on social media in regards to the shelter-in-place order which has prompted many of our citizens to contact our office upset, scared, and confused. Some of the rumors mentioned are as follows:
- Drivers need “traveling papers” to go anywhere in the state of Georgia FALSE
- Curfews are going to be implemented and enforced FALSE
- The borders are going to be closed and blocked by Deputies FALSE
These rumors are false and unnecessary and we would urge the public to research the facts about the shelter-in-place order, many of which are published by all our local media outlets. If the public follow the guidelines for social distancing, limit unnecessary trips, not participate in panic purchasing and hoarding, it will help all of us get through this challenging period.
