On January 16, 2019, the Georgia Cities Foundation provided a $250,000 loan to the Downtown Development Authority of Augusta to assist in financing the commercial renovation project for Shared Space. The Authority provided a simultaneous loan to the project’s developer.
The project was one of two partially funded by the Georgia Cities Foundation. On December 27, 2018, the Georgia Cities Foundation provided a $120,250 loan to the Downtown Development Authority of Augusta to partially finance leasehold improvements and equipment for Groucho’s Deli, located at 758 Broad Street. The DDA provided a simultaneous loan to Augusta Deli, LLC, the project’s developer.
The siren song of the “Cyber Folks” drew Shared Space to Augusta. “With all of the economic growth that’s been going on here, with all the Cyber and then Fort Gordon, we decided that if we were going to move outside of Atlanta that Augusta was going to be the best choice for us,” Brad Williams, Shared Space company general manager, told WRDW in February of this year.
