I’m Bob Richards Jr. and I have been training for an upcoming triathlon. We’ve divided it up between a couple of friends and I have the cycling portion. Last month I was in California for a week and I was fortunate enough to get in 250 miles.
Back home I was hoping for around 125 miles a week. Sunday, August 24th around 8:30 in the morning I was riding on the Aiken Augusta Highway. I remember I had just turned around in our dealership parking lot just beyond the Bobby Jones overpass and was heading back down towards Augusta.
I had gone back under the 520 bridge a little when something happened. I have no recollection of what. All I know is I came to with a number of people standing over me and someone had propped my bike against the railing.
Long story short, I took a pretty hard spill, breaking my femur, six ribs, clavicle and scapula all on my right side.
First off I’d like to thank the kind folks who stopped and helped me by calling 911. Secondly, I really would like to know what happened for my sake and the sake of my family.
As I said, it was on the Aiken Augusta Highway approximately 8:30 AM, Sunday August 24th. Since that stretch of road is so long with such great visibility I’m sort of hoping someone saw what did occur.
If you did and would like to let me know I would very much appreciate it. I’m offering $1,000 for the peace of mind. I’ll keep your identity to myself. You can reach me at 706-284-9413, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to all my friends for their kind thoughts and prayers and thank you for taking the time to read this.
