This Friday night, recteq presents Augusta’s own Tutu D’vyne performing with her band at the Columbia County Amphitheater. (The Friday night show was originally set for last Friday but the date was changed due to weather).
According to a piece in the Augusta Chronicle in 2011, “The group was a mainstay for six years as the house band at Surrey Tavern on Highland Avenue and continues to return to the popular Surrey Center shopping center on a frequent basis and during Masters Week.”
“Among the celebrities the band has performed with or opened for have been President Clinton, Lou Rawls, Mary Wilson (formerly of The Supremes), Dennis Edwards (formerly of The Temptations), The Manhattans, The Impressions, The Chi-Lites, Melba Moore, New Edition, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, and BB King.”

This marks the fourth show in a series which begun in June with Ryan Abel’s band Goin’ South, followed by the Grateful Dead tribute band the Scarlet Begonias July 10th, and Funk You on July 24th. The Columbia County Amphitheater is set up with six foot tables spaced six feet apart.
The tables are priced from $75 to $90 (each table includes six tickets), or single ticket admission is $13.
Beer and wine is available, as well as food featuring Metro’s Best Mexican restaurant El Rey’s new food truck. The concert is presented by recteq.
Lights and sound provided by Quest Sound and Production. Tables and chairs provided by Ranco Tent Rental.
