G Love brings the Special Sauce to Southbound Saturday for a FREE concert.
Before you serve my drink, please stick it in the fridge.
I like cold beverage.
If that makes sense to you, we have great news. G Love and Special Sauce, the revered hip-hop blues trio, is playing this Saturday night at Southbound Smokehouse at SRP Park.

The band will perform from 5-8 on one of the decks wrapped around the restaurant. “We were looking for a band to perform before the Georgia Notre Dame game, and we were lucky enough to score G Love,” said Southbound co-owner George Claussen.
G Love and Special Sauce, named by Rolling Stone Magazine as the fourth ‘Frattiest” band in the country (along with other perennial party favs Zac Brown, 311, Jack Johnson and of course the Dave Mathews Band), is touring the country on their 25th Anniversary Tour.

G Love’s college-radio staple “Cold Beverage” broke through in 1994. “I remember sitting in a brake shop waiting room and I see the words ‘Cold Beverages’ in there. It struck me as funny, and stopped me in my tracks. I was thinking — I like cold beverages, so I started writing around the edges and outskirts of this magazine — what ended up being the lyrics to ‘Cold Beverages’. Just words about drinking,” G Love told Artist Waves last year.
At that time, G. Love appeared destined for left-of-Beck notoriety. “Instead, and inexplicably, they became enmeshed with the sub-DMB preppy-jam circuit, cultivating a sort of oat bran folky funk. All of which is to say, this proto-Mraz is catnip for frat brothers,” is how Rolling Stone described the band’s success.
“….a good way to sum up the night – jivin’ words with the dirty bass poppin’ behind it. It’s a unique band for sure, not only because of the different genres they slide through, but also because of the amount of jammin’ that comes from just the three men. Is it rap? Is it jazz? No one knows…but with the beer flowing all night, no one really cared either.” 303magazine.com.

Seventh ranked Notre Dame takes on third ranked Georgia Saturday night in Athens. The game will be shown on Southbound’s big screens after the concert.
